We are very excited to see the release of our second CD entitled Empires on the ABC Classics label. Our new CD juxtaposes the music of the Holy Roman Empire with the music of the neighbouring Ottoman Empire, including some catchy dance tunes from Slovakia, Moldavia and Croatia, as well as some real gems of the German Baroque. We were joined by a host of guest artists playing all sorts of interesting instruments, for an entirely new sound, but you’ll have to buy it to find out!
It is available at the ABC Shop and on iTunes.
After finishing our recording sessions for our next CD on Tuesday last week, we are now in preparation for our next concert across the straight in Hobart, for the brand new festival called Hobart Baroque. We are presenting a recital of French music as part of the festival with a program called Sonnerie - taking you back to the streets and salons of pre-revolution Paris. Music by Marais, Rameau, Couperin and Leclair, as well as some popular tunes from the city’s streets and the mesmerizing ringing of the bells of St Genevieve. Come along to the opulent setting of the Hobart Town Hall for an evening of French decadence.
