Next Performance, Bach’s Circle 14 June

We are really looking forward to presenting this program of High Baroque music from Germany. For this, the second in our series based around the great JS Bach, we explore some of his wonderful chamber sonatas as well as pieces written by contemporary composers whom he admired including Handel, Buxtehude, Erlebach and Georg Philipp Telemann. It is such a joy to be playing this stunning repertoire in the intimate surroundings of the Salon at the Melbourne Recital Centre. There aren’t many tickets left, so get in quick to avoid disappointment!

Latitude 37 in Healesville

We are thrilled to be presenting a program of French baroque music in the beautiful surrounds of Healesville. Our program for this occasion features not only the music from the 18th century court of Versailles but also the popular tunes that were well known on the streets of Paris in pre-revolutionary France. Featuring folk music that you have definitely heard (in fact one of the most famous tunes that you never knew was French!) alongside works by Rameau, Rebel and Couperin, as well as the popular favourite, the Sonnerie of Saint Geneviève du Mont by Marin Marais, we are sure you will enjoy this program of refinement, beauty, and just a bit of fun! We look forward to seeing you there!

Fundraising campaign

For the past 10 years we’ve presented our concerts on the smell of an oily rag, so for the first time ever, we are calling on donors to support our 2016 series at the MRC. We have launched a campaign with the Australian Cultural Fund to help us manage the cost of the larger ensembles required for the series, to enable us to present programs more ambitious in scale than previous years and thus working towards expanding our presence in Victoria and Australia. This is a key development for us now that our reputation is growing after three acclaimed commercial CD releases. Therefore, we are requesting extra support from you, our followers and friends, so that we can meet our costs in supplying musicians of the highest quality to Melbourne audiences at the Recital Centre. $300 would cover an interstate airfare for a musician, $1000 would sponsor one of the core members of the group, and $3000 would cover the cost of one of the concerts. In any case, every little bit counts, and we really do appreciate your support in bringing these programs to fruition.
Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Donations can be made at the Australian Cultural Fund by clicking here.
