For the second concert in our 2014 Melbourne Recital Centre series we join forces with outstanding mezzo-soprano Fiona Campbell for a ravishing program of songs and instrumental works by distinguished Italian composers of the 17th-century: keyboard virtuoso Girolamo Frescobaldi, Renaissance revolutionary Claudio Monteverdi and Baroque master Giulio Caccini.  Fiona Campbell is one of Australia’s most versatile classical singers. Winner of the national Limelight Award for Best Solo Performance and ABC’s Young Performer of the Year award, Fiona is acclaimed for her powerful performances and musicianship.

A rare opportunity to hear a programme devoted to the sometimes overlooked but brilliant composer Georg Telemann.  His music is endlessly creative and often charming, with moments great depth and some impressive fireworks! The programme consists of three sonatas for violin, viola da gamba and continuo, a solo Fantasia for violin and an unaccompanied sonata for viola da gamba.  We welcome special guest artist Lucinda Moon (violin) for this programme.
